EMBRACING YOUR INNER FINN
Imagine that you book a ticket on the Orient Express. Excited, you show up to your bunk, only to find that you’re sharing a small room on board the train with a total stranger. If you’re from Finland, this is a situation that would be considered a Finnish nightmare. That’s also the title of a book by author Karoliina Korhonen, who has struck a chord with fans in China. Finnish Nightmares follows a cartoon stick figure called Matti. His creator says Matti is a typical Finn. He prefers to keep to himself, and finds most social interactions awkward.
